Hello, i have a 50cc moped with insurance and tax, road legal.
I have a provisional license and i can drive it legaly.

But my question is, that i know i cant carry a passenger that has no license but i want to go somewhere with my friend and he does not have any license.

I wonder what happens if i get caught carrying a passenger that has no license?

    thanks for advice.

    Pillion passengers:
It is a penal offence to carry a passenger if you hold a learner permit. And if you have a full licence, make sure your licence and insurance policy allow you to do so.

Are you serious? if so thats hilarious, in a shocking, kinda frightening way :D, It doesnt matter whether the passenger has a licence or not, It matters if you have a learner permit or have not had your full licence for two years, so You can not carry a pillion passenger

Provisional License/Learner permit = NO PILLIONS

Pass test and get FULL License = OK to carry Pillions

It depends on who stops you, but it is trouble anyway.
Another thing to consider is that in the event of an accident, you will be liable personally for any claim from your pillion.

Open to correction but with full license, its only ok after you have had it for two years

edited, I'll look into the pillion passenger thing regarding licence being held for 2 years, but certainly not with a learner permit

Hilarious, why? well because it makes it sound like you are asking if it matters what kind of licence the passenger has, that really would be irrelevant, passengers dont need a licence in any vehicle. All that matters is if you have a licence, you stated that you do not have full, only learner permit (provisional as they used to be called) so you cannot carry a passenger. your licence doesnt allow it, so I doubt your insurance policy will cover it, as for getting stopped and getting points I dont know how many, but it should be irellevant as you should not carry a passenger??

No insurance: 5 penalty points and a fine of up to €2,500 and/or a possible term of imprisonment (you wont be insured and you get a mandatory court appearance)

you sound like an idiot, so enjoy your court date and your fine.

No doubt his defence will be "but they said on Boards that........."

On my bike insurance if I remember correctly on renewal it asks as to whether or not you want to carry passengers. So I would presume it mentions not covered to carry passengers while on a learner permit. Anyway how far would a 50cc get with two people:confused:.

Another thing to aware of is that you can only carry passengers for the number of seats in the vehicle. My bike is down as single seat on the VLC, even thought it has a separate pillion seat:confused:, so I don't carry pillions.

Thats a little bit harsh , maybe vilnius isn't Irish? so no harm in them asking, I just thought it sounded kinda funny/strange so I assumed it was a matter of miscommunication, still I did think it was funny the way it was worded.
OP Best look up RSA/inquire off your Insurance company if you need advice really but learner permit = No passengers

Only saw this now. There's absolutely no need for that on this forum. Any further outbursts like that will not be tolerated.
