NASRPC will be holding a Gallery Rifle Postal Competition from March to August 2011.

We ran our first Gallery Rifle postal league last year and there were some mixed results.
This year we would hope to include even more people and generate some stiff competition.

If you would like to take part in this league then please drop a line to galleryrifle@nasrpc.ie to register your interest.

We will close out entries for the league by the end of February in order to start the league in March so that gives you just over two weeks to register.
The Inclusion of the 1020 match will ensure that more and more ranges will be suitable for taking part.

Can a bolt action .22lr rifle be used in Gallery rifle?

Can a bolt action .22lr rifle be used in Gallery rifle?

    In theory it can.

These are the rules for what is allowed in (Smallbore) Gallery Rifle
    A2.3

GRSB – Gallery Rifle Small Bore

A2.3.1 Any Gallery Rifle in .22” rimfire which is, in the opinion of the NRA, of conventional
design and safe, may be used.

The standard for GRSB is a self-loading rifle with a detachable magazine. Other designs are permitted.

All GRSB must comply with the following:

    a. Calibre. .22” rimfire only.

    b. Trigger Weight. No minimum permitted trigger weight, but the trigger must
be safe in the judgement of the CRO.

    c. Slings. The use of slings is prohibited.

    d. Sights. Two types of sights are permitted:
    i. Iron. Iron sights which may include sights of any colour.

ii.Optical. Optical sights may include telescopes and ‘red dot’
sights but not lasers which project onto the target itself.

There are some aspects of some matches that could make it impractical - such as 12 shots in 20 seconds - not that it cannot be done but you would be at a disadvantage to those with semis.

Another aspect of many Gallery Rifle disciplines that would make it very difficult for a bolt action rifle is that you are required to shoot from both shoulders - obviously cycling a right hand bolt, while shooting off the left shoulder would be difficult

Just a gentle reminder that entries for the Gallery Rifle Postal League will close at the end of this month.

As Targets, Scoresheets, etc have to be organised and distributed so it is advised to get your entries in sooner rather than later.

There are Leagues in both Smallbore and Centrefire.

The 1500 Match requires 50m but the 1020 match only requires 25m so should you not have regular access to one you should have regular access to the other.

Either way - if you shoot Gallery Rifle - there is something there for you
If you have not shot Gallery Rifle - but want to - it is a great way to ease yourself into the sport.

For those of you that are unsure but will be attending the upcoming Gallery Rifle Open Day in Harbour House, you may sign up for the postal league on that day.

    Folks,

Due to some unforeseen circumstances we have had to delay the start of the
Gallery Rifle Postal League by one month.

Therefore the first scorecards will now be due by midnight May 5th and the league will now run until September with the final scorecards being submitted by October 5th.

A good few people have already registered for the league but given the delayed start we will accept further entries.

The NASRPC website has been updated to include GR1020 match details (GRSB1020 & GRCF1020).
The GR1500 match details (GRSB1500 & GRCF1500) were already there..

The League tables are also now available via the website.

If you are unclear on any of the details or have any questions please feel free to contact galleryrifle@nasrpc.ie or competitions@nasrpc.ie
