Puy de Fou - stay on site or nearby

We're travelling to France in April and heading down to Bordeaux (from Cherbourg) so we were thinking of spending 2 nights enroute to break up the journey. One stop is to visit Puy de Fou. Can anyone recommend whether it would be better to stay in one of the hotels on site or if there is decent accomodation nearby which…

We're travelling to France in April and heading down to Bordeaux (from Cherbourg) so we were thinking of spending 2 nights enroute to break up the journey. One stop is to visit Puy de Fou. Can anyone recommend whether it would be better to stay in one of the hotels on site or if there is decent accomodation nearby which would work out cheaper? Also if anyone has any recommendations for a one night stop between Cherbourg and Puy de Fou I'd be delighted to hear them.
