Walk with me..

When I first joined boards my first post mentioned the starting of a blog. I asked the mods and a week later I got the go ahead. But I never knew what way to start it so it went on the long finger.

But here I am. In the not so distant future I am going to my first ftm night thanks to the most epic man I know. But first a little about me.

I'm in my mid 20's, out as a lesbian since I was 15/16. From about 19 I knew exacty who I wanted to be but pushed it way down and denied it. I went to College at 17, moving quite far from home. But didn't join the lgbt soc for fear of the giant T.

College finished up and i landed in Dublin. Thankfully then you could walk into a Job. The huge downside was I knew absolutely nobody. My friend count was 0
So I spent hours online on various forums and eventually plucked the courage to tag along to a meet. Where I met a ton of people who have become the closest thing since family. Including the epic man I mentioned earlier.

A friendship with a woman I met developed into a relationship. A relationship that I know anybody would be jealous of. And for months I was so happy. Until the real me started to eat away at me. I came out as Tiernan.

The relationship ended with me resulting in gaining a best friend.

Not too long from now I'll be in a room with 15 guys all like me.

So here I am, on the verge of what will probably be one of the most important nights of my life. And honestly?

    I'm terrified.

So you are going to the F2M social event in Dublin?

It has been my great privilege to meet a number of the guys that you will be meeting, and they are just really really great guys. You'll be fine.

Yes, it could be one of the most important nights of your life. I suspect it'll also be the best night of your life.

As for the fear - we've all been terrified, so don't worry, and have a fantastic night!

Currently watching a giant tv screen advertising new films and am making up the words coz it has no sound... :)

In the bigger picture of what I intend to do, one or two counsellor visits to get my head around other things and then off to Kelly to start the most epic journey ever :)

Absolutely fair play to you. Its possible in life to feel afraid, but inside be really brave. You are a shining example of this.

But please, please, please, pardon my ignorance, but whats the giant T?

I'm guessing Transgender, the T in LGBT ;)

Transgender, perhaps, as in 'Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender'?

Being transgendered, he was maybe afraid of either meeting other transgendered people or identifying himself publically as transgendered, hence why "the giant T" was frightening him? I dunno. :)

So, Friday night was great :)

I met some really cool guys, and we hooked up with the WAGS after :) was really deadly just being out and hearing peoples stories and getting to know new folk!
What was most epic was all night being refered to as the right gender and name, also having the confidence to use the gents coz i really felt on top of the world :)

Keep an eye on http://twitter.com/TENI_Tweets for information on the next one. The last one was also publicised by the Cork Trans web site -

    http://corktrans.webs.com/irishtgroups.htm

IMO it's worth getting a facebook account just to keep in touch with these sorts of things that are happening.

Good god what a few weeks of dying/death, self realisation, realising the realisation was alcohol enduced, followed by sobering thoughts that were in fact less coherent than my drunken ones!

    Anyway, another ftm meet wahey!
