Does anyone remember Alien Terror?

Way back in about '95 or '96, I was only about 6 or 7, there was a cool set-up in the Square in Tallaght called "Alien Terror". This is years back, so my memory is most likely flawed, but I remember my dad bringing me there where some guys in combat fatigues briefed us about the aliens inside an area next to (I think) the cinema; they then brought us down through these dark rooms where we would be periodically "attacked" by guys dressed as what I think were the aliens from the "Alien" movies (remember, I was very young!)

The only other details I remember about it was that he had a little blue plastic gun and a gadget that supposedly told him how close the aliens were. We'd run to an elevator, and a loud banging noise occurred, and this was supposed to be the aliens trying to get in.

Does anyone remember this? I can't find anything on google about it. I'd just like know whether it really was as cool as I remember it!

Seems be no record of it anywhere online. What i always taught was funny that in the same section in the square where they had the kids adventure places was a family planning center :P

I remember that , would have been mid nineties?
I think it was around the time I worked in Harry Moores in the square (94-96 I think)
Think It was an official 'Aliens' thing with space marines and the like.Never actually went though. And it didnt last that long.

I remember that place it was beside the cinema, I was a tad too old for it though I think I was about 17, I only looked into it once but it looked a laugh.

Was only talking to my mate about this the other day... they had another scare attraction in the Parnell Center too, similar setup, different theme.

I remember Alien Terror being pretty scary :D

Haha classic, remember the alien eggs at first, then the alien at the end of a corridor, an alien arm tries grabbing through some kind of grate or bars, and of course the elevator part!

I can't even remember what the aliens looked like, I just remember it being a really fun experience that scared me shítless!

    I vaguely remember it.

I do remember a kids 'fun area' type of thing beside the cinemas there. I remember it had a large vertical slide in it. This is going back to the early to mid 90's.

This was called "The Alien War Experience". I went to it in london, amazing did not do it justice, Marines dressed with machine guns and guys dressed as Aliens. Great fun...

Thanks, Brookie! I could have sworn it was called "Alien Terror" in the Square in Tallaght, but in 1996 I was only 7. I really hope they open it in England or Scotland again, as I would gladly go to participate. The videos on youtube, cheesey as they may be, look like absolute great craic!

it was great, being young and very cocky i was pushed to the front of the group with my mate, we went down a tunnel exactly like the Aliens set, the marine forced me down a dead end to check it out, half way down i triggered a contact point, this in turn set a strobe off, at the end of the hallway a egg started to open, and then a bloody face hugger started to get out, on top of that an Alien popped out from a dark corner.

I tripped my mate fell on top of me and we both started screaming like girls to get the hell out of there..... LOL

I never ran so fast in my life, in those few mins they had you in the film 100%

That sounds absolutely amazing! I'd love to get a group of my mates together and go for it. I'd have really suspend my disbelief so that it could properly put the shíts in me!

The thing was, in the queue every few mins a group of people came out of this screaming and running, we all stood saying "whats the deal, sure its all fake, ejits..etc..." When you got in there and the Marine started the speech, again it was " yeah , yeah dude, its a job, its a fake gun, get over your self,"

then the first fright got ya and you were in, the whole group bought it hook line and sinker. I remember near the end, they droped and extra into the group, as we all panicked to get into a lift, the Alien headbutt the lift door, took the "plant" out and we all started saying we should go back for him......LOL Brilliant times....

I genuinely laughed out loud at that part!

I imagine it's no different from playing a really scary video game - it's an immersive experience. I remember being scared shítless when I was a kid, and even my dad, who was in his 30s at the time, said it scared the bejaysis out of him!

The one in Parnell St. Was a "Haunted House" attraction.

In Disney Orlando, there used to be a similiar thing called "Alien Encounter", done in true disney style. I remember coming out of it with a pain across the back of my head because I was grinning from ear to ear.

They dripped "blood" on you in the dark & the "alien" came right behind you breathing (warm & moist with sounds) on your neck.

Every September\October in Universal Studios Orlando they open the parks at night filled with these "Scare Attractions". Its an amazing setup, I've been there the last 2 years running :)

still no comparison to Alien Terror though :D
