Digital Piano Problem..

    Hey all,

Hope this is in the right place for my question, please move if not :)

My Digital Piano is a Roland Hpi 5 this one here http://www.roland.com/products/en/HPi-5/

When it was being moved it suffered a small fall as not all the screws holding it to the base were attached.

The problem now is that while piano still functions properly if I turn it off and try to turn it on again it will not turn on.

To get it to turn on again, I have to leave it in the off position for about 3 - 5 days ( sometimes longer).

When I then try turning it on it starts up as normal, and until its turned off again it works perfectly.

What could be causing this??? When it turns on normally there is a clicking sound which I assume is a relay somewhere - this is not heard when it wont turn on even tho the red power light comes on.

Any ideas where to start, im quite good with fixing things normally so id like to have a go before shelling out on repair fees. If its just a part that needs changing I could probably manage it.

Will be interested to hear your views! :)

Yeah that sounds like a sticky relay, could have got knocked around when it fell. If it was me i'd open it up and have a look for the relay, if you can't find it wait till it will power on an listen for where the clicking is coming from. It would be strange for a keyboard to have a physical relay though? But its definitely something getting stuck in position when power is applied and when its been off for a while it resets or just moves enough to break the circuit.
