Meindl boot repair...

...the rubber band that surrounds the boot where the sole and upper meets is fraying, particularly at the front. Its both being scuffed down and coming away from the upper part. Can this be fixed? I presume it could be just glued back on, but afraid that might damage the fabric. Is there any way of getting another band moulded on, any company do this work or do Meindl do any repairs?

Any decent cobbler should be able to sort it, it may not look the best but hey once it works. There used to be a great on just off Lwr Mount St, walking away from town, take the first left and he's a tiny way down on the left, haven't been there in years so not sure if they are still there.

bring them to a Meindl stockist and ask their opinion.

Great, thanks for tips, glad it seems I won't have to send them back to some factory in Germany because I'd never be organised enough to get it done!

I brought mine to the shop where I bought them 11 years ago. They sent them back to Meindl in mid December, I got them back about a week ago. It cost €84.50 incl P+P.

I thought it good value, bearing in mind to replace them would have cost about €250 or so. The only thing that got to me was the slow turn around time.

Apparently the procedure is that they get sent to England first, the dealer there then waits til they have enough boots for repair and they then send them on to the factory. Not sure on that but it's what the lad in the shop told me.

    Hope it helps.

I've mentioned it before, but there's a place in England that does all kinds of outdoor gear repairs including boots that I've used with success on a number of different occasions.

Cheers for the link Alun, they look like a good resource to have bookmarked for a rainy day.

Also to add that new footbeds and laces were included.
