Hello, today i have passed my provisional driving theory test.
I have received like a huge laminated paper saying "theory test certificate" with my photo on it..

I wonder is it my license? lol

Its category A1, and i am about to get insurance and so on, i already have a 50cc moped. I am 16 years old btw.

    I have the following questions:
Should my provisional license look big and laminated piece of paper?
Do i need to do any further driving test or anything or is that my license and im done?
Around how much will insurance be for 50cc 2001 scooter for me?
Do i need to carry that big license with me all the time?

And if you have more tips for me please tell them :)

thanks a lot for your help.

Thats how my certificate looks like:

No, you have to get a form to apply for a license (Local MTO or Garda station, or library should have it)

Fill that out, then bring/send it to your local MTO with everything needed that's listed on the form (Usually: Application form, 2x passport photo, money, theory test cert)

You'll get your license back in the post after a few days or a week

    wow thats helpful thanks, also.
Can i just go to tax office and do everything there instead of sending it by post?

it would be easier to just go there and do it all at spot.. Do they have those forms in tax office and will they accept it there?

also how much i need to pay?

after i done that do i need to do anything else or i just get my license and thats it? :)

    thanks a lot!

It depends on the tax office - I know certain ones (Athlone) don't actually process licenses... so just give them a quick ring to make sure they do before heading in.

There's actually one or two things I forgot to mention - sorry :) It was over 2 years ago! :D

You need to get an eye test done, if you go in to your local opticians and tell them it's for a driving license, they'll more than likely have the form to fill out. Otherwise, it's form D502 and can be downloaded online

Form D201 is the application form, they should have these in the MTO but there are some medical questions on it which if you answer "yes" to any, you need to get a medical report (unlikely for a 16 year old)

    http://www.roadcode.ie/media/documents/learner_permit.pdf

There's the application form (I'm not entirely sure if it's the current version, so I'd advise against printing it and using it) but you can see exactly what's being asked for

You also need to send an original birth cert or passport with it for ID purposes...

The fee for a learner permit AFAIK is €15

    hope it helps :)

Thanks a lot :) will probably go to tax office and get exact info.. would probably be easier.

Any ideas, does tax office work on saturday?

also do you have any idea how much insurance will be for me? for 50cc 2001 bike.

    Thanks

Look up your MTO details here :)

    http://findaddress.citizensinformation.ie/service_finder/query.py?category=Motor+Tax+Offices&county=*&town=*&submit=FIND+ADDRESSES

Also I've no idea what insurance would be like for you....never had much interest in mopeds/bikes..

Quinn-direct have an online quote calculator, just enter all your details :)

    Hi,

Note is not your driving licence, you will need to apply for your driving licence.

You can apply for your provisional driving license by completing the D1 application form that is available from the DVLA form ordering service or Post Office® branches. You will also need to enclose original documentation confirming your identity, a passport style license photograph and the fee of £38.00. Send your completed application and payment to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AD or you may be able to use the premium checking service.

    Hope this will help.

This is an Irish forum, so clearly the above is not applicable.

You will also need to take lessons. I am not well up on the details as I deal with cars. But they do have to be taken.
