the next one - a moron named Jim Devine - has just been convicted as well.

12 months for him however is unlikely, as he pleaded not guilty.

the beak is unlikely to be merciful...

Our "justice" system is full of incompetents, shysters and invisible "old boys" networks.

Our Gardai are reluctant to get involved when politicians are robbing and thieving , they would prefer to give you a speeding ticket . (even when the evidence is clear and unambiguous.

Disgustingly - it turns out that we give our politicians monetary bonus rewards and compensation for submitting dodgy expenses, on top of the money they got under false pretenses.

The brits have it right - someone submits dodgy expenses - then send them to jail . They have a strong justice system

Ireland has lost its moral compass
    .

There are too many involved for any of them to get caught here. The laws protect them and will continue to whilst the three major Irish parties are in government, look at the Ivor Callely situation, everyone in Ireland could see that he was fiddling the travel expenses yet he gets compensation for it.

It'll be a cold day in hell before a TD in this country goes to jail over expenses.
