Anyone else on here travelling southbound just after Sandyford at around 3.15 pm...?
A silver 10-d- VW Passat came up on the inside lane at speed (out side lane was travelling at 120) from the on-ramp south bound..Tried to pull in front of me but there was nowhere for him to go..takes to the hard shoulder, passes a couple of cars..back to inside lane..more slower cars, forces his way into the outside lane ,almost causing a pile up...theres a van in front of me so i couldnt see him for a few seconds..then he re-appears in the inside, then to the hard shoulder again...he continues this as far as i could see him ,which was around Leopardstown off ramp..he may have kept going towards Cherrywood/Bray....
It happened so fast that all i saw was the 10 D part of the reg....
TBH the driver didnt look like he'd robbed the car...hope he made his important meeting...
BTW if anyone else saw this and noted the reg, i've reported it to the Gardai...and i would gladly take time off work to go to court if it came to that...;)

Are you sure it was not a garda car someone told me that they are using vw passats now they would have a blue light on the dash board and more than likely two small ones on the back window and they would also have a couple of ariels on top of the car could be 3 ariels.

I'd be tempted to hoist the black flag myself were I forced to drive a Passat every day.

My observation...

Passat=Travelers Car (their favourit saloon car).
Traveler=Bad Driver (generally).

Just a thought.

I travel the M50 twice a week, Friday evening going home around 6:30 pm and Sunday evening coming back up to Dublin around 7 or 8pm and I see behavior thats at least similar to what the OP has described on almost every journey.

No problem

In fairness I would just say there was a major a$$hole behind the wheel who was in a rush for whatever reason.

Maybe he was caught with the neighbours wife and had to make a quick exit :D

From reading that it could well have been a garda car

Targeting a ethnic minority is racist, its not limited to people of a different skin colour ;)

Then why not put on its lights (or whatever an unmarked car has) to let people know...

Are the Gardai exempt from every rule of the road? Surely they can't drive like cnuts like the op described? Wouldn't they have to have their flashers off?

If you noticed a squad car marked or unmarked driving wrecklessly without their lights off, forcing you to suddenly break, could you get done for a traffic offense if you beep or flash your lights at them?

07 silver passat driver is very close to being reported. I see the twat every few weeks doing something very stupid, I don't have his full reg yet but when I do I will be reporting him.

Garda jeep on the N11 yesterday driving up peoples arse, when they don't move the flashers go on, and on the ignorant so and so goes. Lane hopping like mad, sirens and flashers were not on. Very dangerous driving. At least put your flashers on you scumbag. I didn't get his reg he moved so fast. I would have reported him too.

I'm of the opinion most Passat drivers are ignorant boll**ks's on the road......the Passat seems to be a real moron magnet.
They seem to be of the opinion Passat's are the fastest cars on the road also & get quite upset when they're overtakin

I'd be fairly sure it wasnt a Garda car, Irish people in general cant grasp the concept of motorway driving as this type of behaviour is common place. Just the other day on the M50 I was coming up to overtake a Micra so I pulled out into the overtaking lane and this car (which was doing about 60kmph) pulls out on front of me into the overtaking lane causing me to break sharply and duck back into the central lane, this car was driven by a woman of African appearance with L plates so its goes to show its not all Irish. I spent a lot of time on the M50, M9 and M1 and there's a lot of people who use the overtaking lane for cruising at 90kmph causing other cars to slalom all over the place

Cork people aren't an ethnic minority and if you choose to actually read the thread and not make yourself look like a 'tard you would see he meant it jokingly and also I posted a link which in fact confirms members of the traveling community as an ethnic minority.

So in answer to your question, yes it was racist however the poster confirmed it was meant jokingly. A smiley face at the start would of shown us that what he/she meant was in jest.

If you have a problem with my posts report them

Neither are travellers.
Post the link so, and an independent one, not from an interest group. They want to be recognised as an ethnic group but they're not. This is all off topic of course, but I may take you seriously if you didn't resort to personal insults when you try debate with someone.

Its already posted

Learn to read

I can't be bothered to argue with someone who accepts casual racism or discrimination either although you do seem to be rather offended at being labelled a "'tard" so I fail to see how you can argue that labelling a ethnic minority is right

• Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

I'm the very last person that can be labelled a racist but it's a simple fact that travellers are not a recognized ethnic minority and no amount of brow beating from bleeding hearts like yourself looking to find offence in anything have yet to change that.

Its not brow beating.

They have been recognised as an ethnic minority in Britain for over 10 years now and its rather shameful that we haven't followed suit here.

If you want to keep discussing it PM me

Probably a Mexican.

No wait, they're lazy and eat sick covered with cheese according to Top Gear.

I really don't know who to get my racial stereotypes from any more and I still don't know what a tracker mortgage is.

This thread is making my eyes bleed. If the subject can be discussed in a civilised manner then go right ahead. As for this thread, it's done
