Smell of sick in Dublin Airport?

I use Dublin airport twice a week and on each occasion on arrival at the D-Pier walking towards passport control there is a terrible putrid smell of sick.

Has anybody noticed this? I thought it was a one off and it would be sorted but this has been going on now for months hence the reason for my post. I would email the DAA but would probably get a quicker response here.

its down to people dropping full/nearly full milky coffees into the bins and the bins not being changed very often as they take a week+ to fill as people dont tend to use those bins on the long pier d walk much. milky beverage goes sour, results in frequent pukey smell.

I dont think it is that. Im talking about arrivals as soon as you get off the aircraft and enter the terminal where there is nothing, no SOHO coffee. You walk a bit then go up some escalators (where you can see the departing passengers through the glass walking the other way) then right there the smell hits you like a brick wall :(

Yes it is that as pointed out by the above poster. Its putrid dairy smell. Which is distinctly similar to vomit.

Also i would suggest you direct your concerns to the DAA so that something can be done in relation to the situation.

It's usually either the stench of gone-off milk or disinfectant, depending on the time of your arrival!

Is it still called Pier D, by the way? All the gates are numbered with a new system now...

Yeah I noticed it last time I came in. Lovely welcome home!

I'm sure the airport authorities aren't trying to enable the smell. Got to be something to do with floor cleaning products or lack thereof.

Wouldn't it be better to tell/ask someone in the airport or e-mail DAA.

I came back through the airport on Saturday and while walking back along the corridor was hit by the same awful smell described here. I think it was just at the bottom of the escalator. It was very, very localised and only extended for a few metres.

It really was awful, almost enough to make you puke if your stomach was already a little delicate.

I can't believe that DAA haven't addressed it by now. Even the use of some strong air fresheners might help if they can't get rid of the root cause without digging the place up.
