    Hi,

Hoping someone can help me, but i think its a longshot. My wifes Iphone 4 got stolen yesterday, she was walking down Talbot St in Dublin and someone came from behind her and took the phone out of her hand as she was talking on it and ran away. She couldnt run after him cos she had baby in the pram in front of her and he was pretty quick to get away.

Anyways she reproted it stolen and got the number blocked by 3 so no phone calls/texts can be used etc. But i am wondering if the phone is on can it be located through GPS?

Like i said a longshot and i dont think it possible but thought i might throw it out there.

    thanks,

    burger

Unless you had already set up the mobileme service on the iPhone, then there's no way to do it now.

The mobileme service does exactly what you describe - locate via GPS and lock or wipe the device.

This happened to me at the back of the georges street arcade about 8 or 9 years ago with one of the first camera phones,a sharp something or other.
    Horrible bastards.
Sorry, hope everything works out for you.

i was listening to the adrian kennedy show on thursday night on fm104 and they were talking about people robbing iphones.
They had a dirt bag on that was robbing them off kids and women around abbey street/ talbot street.

Apparantly this man doing the robbing has his 2 front teeth missing and is on the rob with his two kids (young teenagers) - apparantly he is up in court in a few weeks for similar crimes.

He then sells them on for 50 quid

i know this is no use to you now but might make others more vigilant
