    Hi All,

    Windows xp media centre ed.
I have AVG free edition which is set to update and run every night at 3am. When I check 'its' log it shows that the task has been completed no problem.

However when I go into Windows Control Panel>Shedule Tasks it does not show at all.
I have various other tasks which are set to run during the night and they all show no problem.

    Any thoughts please.

    Thanks for reading.

The AVG Updater is run from within the AVG host process itself, it's not a scheduled task on Windows.

AVG is constantly running in the background, so it doesn't need the Windows Scheduled Task manager to run the update for it.

Thank you for that Seamus. Just so I understand it completely , I also have Spybot S+D which updates and runs at night which shows on the windows scheduler. Is this because it 'only' runs at this time as opposed to AVG which as you say runs 'constantly'.?

Correct. Spybot isn't running all the time, so it needs windows to "wake it up" to do the updates. Since AVG is always running, it doesn't need the task scheduler to wake it up.
