Does anyone know a place that fixes cassette decks and other HIFI separates?

Its a Pioneer reference series deck I'm looking to get fixed.

I have other Pioneer reference series gear and was going to buy this deck because its a full size deck and will fit in with the rest of my stuff. My current deck is smaller than the rest of my gear.

"BECAUSE THE CASSETTE DECK HASN'T BEEN USED FOR OVER 10 YEARS IT APPEARS THAT ONE OF THE SPOOL MOTORS NO LONGER FUNCTIONS AS IT WILL NOT TURN WHEN A CASSETTE IS PLAYED. MAYBE AN EASY FIX"

Try AV Import on the Naas Road, they repair Pioneer gear.

After 10 years in storage I'd suspect any belts in the mechanism to be cracked and dried out or even split !! Older or less expensive decks used a heavy flywheel and a belt to help prevent wow & flutter, if this is the case the belt should be visible once the case is opened.

Better decks used synchronous motors connected directly to the spools. These tended to be bespoke to the mechanism so may prove difficult to repair/source.

Might also be worth applying some light oil to the moving parts like the pinch roller shaft and the pinch shaft itself.

Had this problem myself with a decent Aiwa deck.Had not played it for yonks,Opened it up,manually turned the flywheel, and lubed the motor and engaging mechinism,Works like a dream.Slainte
