    Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of registering my car in Ireland as it's a 2008 and I'm bringing it in from the UK. I was just wondering when I bring the car to the NCT centre to get my Irish registration number is there any way I could ask for a "nice" number or will they just give me the next number? I'd really like a nice number and because it's not a new car I thought there might be a way?

A lot of really nice cars have really good reg numbers?!

Would really appreciate if someone could help me and sorry if it's a stupid question!

    Thanks a million

    Cormac

AFAIK you could book a specific number before, but it costs €1000.

When I was registering mine, I asked a guy if the number is just next in the row, or can he give me few to choose from, so I can find the nicest for myself.
He said there's no such thing, unless I pay €1000 euros, and smiled.

But afterwards he gave me the number 5115, which i find quite nice.

You will be issued the next available number for the county corresponding to the address registered under your PPSI number.

No personal plates available in Ireland afaik but you can reserve certain numbers, not sure what the process is these days but it costs €1000 afaik.

You can request a "nice" number but it will cost you €1,000. It used to cost €315 but they increased it to €1,000 overnight 2 years ago. You need to fill in a form & send it to the Vehicle Registration Unit of the revenue commissioners based in Wexford.

Here is all the info you need:

Thanks lads for the info! I don't think I'll be paying the €1000 but if it was €315 I would consider it!

    Thanks a million
