I'm going to be selling my 02 DC5 soon because I'm leaving the country and I'm dreading putting it up on the market, mainly because no one seems to have any money!! :)

It's in a great nick and I'll be selling it at a competitive price but I'm just wondering how long its going to take before it shifts. Anyone have any experience of the market recently?

Yeh it's tough to shift 2nd hand cars at the minute, sold mine a month ago after trying for over a month and ended up taking few hundred less than I was happy with, was in very good nick, with 9 months tax and 13 months NCT on it too. But end of the day, I felt lucky to find a buyer at all and it wasn't for want of trying! Good luck!;)

My brother sold his land-rover just before Christmas. Put it on Donedeal and sold it 3 days later. I think he was happy enough with the price, think he was happier that he got it sold.

Its a tough one allright, alot of people are swapping with cash one way, would you have time to swap with cash your way and maybe take something as a trade thats easier to sell?

What are you pricing it at? and what condition is it in?

Friend of mine sold his BZ-R recently, was up on DoneDeal for a whole 12 hours before it was sold. Now having said that the car was mint, well modded and very well minded. So it really depends on the nick of the car as well as the market.

What sort of price do you think you will put on it? What are the details? Colour? Mileage? Condition? Mods? etc?

It's a white type r, 124k on the clock, eibach springs + camber arms, fujitsubo power getter, rbc intake mani, rs engine mounts, front braided lines (can't remember the brand) with mintex 1144 pads. I also have a spoon 4-2,2-1 to go into it, I was going to get an ECU for it but no point now. (edit, I also have a buddy club short shifter, j's racing ETD installed and a CAI I can't remember the name of lying about for it :)

I was going to ask for 8.5 - 9k for it. It really is in good nick. I've also been looking into getting it shipped over to Oz !

I wouldn't swap for another car in order to get rid of it. It's a lot of messin about!

Im not trying to be smart mate but I think that price is way too high.

A year and a half ago I bought a 02 DC5 with a higher spec list(full mugen internals, buddy club carbon fibre bonnet, mugen twin loop exhaust, hondata ecu etc) lower mileage for 7500. I know of DC5's that are going for less and are mint condition.

Unfortunately I have to agree that the price is a bit high for a 02 DC5.

They are simply not making that much money these days even in high spec and "mint" (Hate that word) condition.

I would say that your top end would have to be €8k and be prepared to negotiate that downwards to get a sale.

Shipping it to Australia would be prohibitively expensive and you'd be crazy to do it.

I was basing the price on carzone ads, granted. If market value is going that low it's heading into breaking territory to be honest. There can't be much different between DC2s and 5s now price wise.

I got a quote to ship it over to Oz for 1147 uk. 47days on a boat! Now there's taxes etc that need to be paid on the other side, that could be prohibitive but it would break my heart to see it depreciate so much so quickly and let it go for peanuts.

Yeh carzone ads are not the best stick by which to guage the price.
Your correct, the difference in price between DC2's and DC5's is now incredibly small with DC2's around €4k - €5k and DC5's €7k - €8k (in general)

You'd be much better off buying in Australia though.

Second hand cars seem to be twice the price they are here, at least based on the calculations and ads I've seen there. Example, 02 M3 $50,000 there (~40euro), about 20k here!

Definitely better off as far as insurance, lack of penalty points, road quality, fuel costs and lack of John Gormley though!

I done that with my last Dc5,shipped it to Sydney, drove up to the Goldcoast on Irish plates .

Cost a fair bit to do but 4 years ago i had the money to do it.

    Was it worth it,Hell yeah!

There is a huge Honda scene over there.

Not to mention cheaper Insurance/tax 100 RON V-power racing fuel and the sheer rareness of a JDM DC5R on the roads there.

Going by the the bigger Honda clubs over there http://www.clubitr.com.au/forums/and http://www.ozhonda.com/ there was maybe 3 registered back in 08.

Sold mine for $26.000 Ausd in the end.

To start you need to have proof you have owned the car for a year over here.
