Clutch shuddering

On my Escort Mk6, the car shudders alot when taking of from stationary. I had the clutch replaced about 2 years ago, and since then it's been a bit dodgy. The car has an automatic adjuster (which I hate), so there is no way of adjusting it manually. Any suggestions what may be causing this? Thanks.

Clutch shudder can be caused when the springs in the clutch disk break

Also, could be simply dirt or corrosion on surfaces. Try engaging the clutch with brakes on a few times. Do it on a drive or safe place. Car will cut out etc. This will clean the surfaces.

Shuddering on pulling away is either an iffy engine mounting, or the clutch / pressure plate that was fitted is now defective. Also, some cheap clutch kits end up giving symptoms like that, even from the moment they are fitted.

If you rev the car in neutral, does the gearstick move about a lot? If so, I'd be inclined to blame gear lower mountings, especially if you can hear a clonking sound.

Does it have a duel mass flywheel?
