    hi all,

I'm really not sure where to post this question..

I work voluntarily in a Charity shop..

We have received a donation of the following:

    One stuffed and mounted pheasant

One stuffed and mounted white duck thing

Any of you know are these legal to sell?

Any ideas of price that they might be worth?

They must have been done by a taxidermist but I don't know how to describe them other than stuffed, I'm sure there is a more eloquent term.

look in good condition, well they're not smiling but would you be in a similar predicament? :p

    Thanks :)

Iv one being done at the mo. A lovely pheasant. Its around 150 - 180 to get a basic mount. When the lads see the condition of the birds ya'l get a better price range. If you dont mind me asking, where is your charity shop located? County if ya dont want to be specific. Might know someone interested ie me, as a gift for my gran. I reckon they would fetch more than 5e

Ok, I opened the black plastic bag they came in..

I feel like a bit of an ejit..

I think it's a white pheasant and a cock pheasant on the one mount..

    Apologies to white ducks :o

The charity shop is in Carlow town..

    I've put €80 on it..

It is a bit dusty, the white one does have some brown speckles on it?
Might be mould, not sure.. other than that it seems to be okay.

I don't know how to get pics on here but so here is a link to the facebook page, there is a photo on there..

    Thanks for your help :)

Seen a few in Dublin Charity shops from 15 euro upwards but where very tattered, probably all depends on the condition of the birds

Nice looking mount. White pheasant is scarce enough I would think. I only heard of one in my area, never seen one.

A lot of people only get/want stuff mounted they've shot themselves.

€80 is a reasonable price I reckon from looking at the picture.

Maybe contact a few taxidermists they might be interested in taking it off your hands?

    thanks...

It's in the window of the shop, I'll give it a week or two and see what happens..

One of the customers told me it was a white pheasant, I've never heard of them or seen one. I've often seen the normal ones wandering on the roads here but never a white one.

    I'll keep you updated :)

iv never seen one either but il tell ya a story bunny. The local club got one thrown in on an order of birds years ago. They put a bounty of 250pounds on it at the time which was good. A man i go shooting with seen it behind his house. He was after it for weeks, but it kept breaking the wrong way etc. He reckons he had it figured and was waiting for the weekend to come all week!! Coming home from work friday evening he was looking forward to saturday morning and his bounty. Not 50yards from the house, here was the bird, flat as a pancake on the road!!!

Thanks T223, we are a small club, but to be honest it doesn't matter if there are 10 or 100 in a club, it will only be as good as the effort lads are willing to put into it. Luckily we have a group of lads who are shooting mad, be it game to clays.
