Any info on this and what its like, Seems highly interesting to me
Whats the maths like in this compared to other computing courses also.

I failed multimedia 1st year by 3 subjects. I honestly found it very slow and easy with skills I currently have/had and so I thought I knew it all and got caught out on the non computing subjects as I was fooling around.

Its been 2 years since that im more mature now and I dont think revisiting that is best for my path.

Im looking for something computer related in wit.

Many thanks in advance for all replies:)

currently doing 2nd year of this course.

math wise, its intense. but if you turn up, pay attention and do the assignments / practicals with the help of your lecturer's you should be ok. 14 of us left in second year.

Programming side gets tough in first semester of second year with the data structures, but same as the math if you turn up and pay attention and practice it you should be fine.

just to note, im in the 3 year honour course, but its been restructured to a 4 year course now. I know there are new subjects added etc so i cant comment on them.

Overall, its a great course and it covers a lot of areas of computing.
plenty of different fields you can aim for when you finish.

Do a search, its been discussed before. Its a tough course and I would assume if you couldn't do Multimedia, you will struggle with this one probably more so as its a lot more intense and tougher. :)

I cant comment on the subjects in the newly structured 4 year course but in the 3 year, we generally had 1 maths subject each semester. Some of them were easy enough, such as statistics and probability. However you'll also have to cover applied calculus, mathematical modelling and signal processing.

The applied calculus would be at a level slightly higher than higher-level LC calculus. And modelling and signal processing follow on from that so its vital you stay on top of the maths from day 1 as if you fall behind you'll be playing catch-up year after year.

Hope that helps, throw out any other questions you have, I'll ask some of the people in the new 4-year structure about their thoughts and get back to you, but they've only got first year to go by
