what is it like, do you do it infront of examiners or is it like the junior cert where you get like a month to make it during normal classes? also is all the material needed where the exam is taking place or do you have to take anything with you?

There is information here on the curriculum for Art for the Leaving Certificate - http://www.curriculumonline.ie/uploadedfiles/PDF/lc_art_sy.pdf
Should be of some help. I know that when I was doing my leaving cert way back when, I didn't have a teacher as the school didn't do Art for the LC!

The exam paper comes out one week before your exam.

You choose your particular craft option ( batik, poster design, pottery .....)
and choose one theme. ( Usually a choice of three)

You must come to the exam with an A2 preparatory sheet already prepared on your theme and craft option. ( This is something like junior cert)

The exam is 5 hours long.

You must do two things 1) sketch out your preliminary idea for what craftwork you propose to make 2) make and complete your craftwork.

In the exam spend about 40 minutes on your preliminary sheet and the rest of time completing your craftwork.

In the week before exam, get the paper and make a good preparatory sheet completed.
