Found this site (now bookmarked) via a link in the 'Branded v Generic Tyres?' thread.

    http://www.gizmag.com/go/5657/

According to Warranty Direct, #1 is Honda Accord, #100 is Porsche Boxster....

Trying to read the list on the site hurt my eyes. Someone should send that site a return key.

So from here on in when someone is looking for a midsize family car and a Corrolla is mentioned for it's reliabilitythey should be told of a more reliable alternative :-)

    85 Megane
    91 corrolla

theres some awfull dreary stuff in there. The Deawoo Leganza for god sake. If it wasnt somewhat reliable it would have no redeeming features at all. Why did anyone ever buy one of those? Theres not one area it was mear the top of in its class. The other option would have to be on fire for you not to choose it.

That's from 2006. Was wondering why some more recent cars were entirely absent and its cause there wouldn't be any on WarrantyDirect extended warranties in 2006...

There's 91 cars out there more reliable than a corolla, any of them are more than likely a better drive and *importantly* less ugly.

That makes it worse for the likes of th eCorrolla. The Megane of that era (admittedly theres a big overlap with the Megane I but sure thats a ball of crap too accordign to boards :-) ) is often talked about as being an unreliable crapshack on wheels. Yet it's still more reliable than "the best built cars in the world"'s volume seller. The 10 years up to 06 includes the Punto that had 4 HG failures for every car built :-)

It would appear there are quite a few more brilliant and they could well have chosen a few better cars, so it appears taxi drivers can indeed be wrong (about the cars, we all know well they can be wrong about plenty of other things) :-)

No idea why you crossed out mx5, but any proper petrol head can tell you that mx5 is one of the moust reliable sports cars in the world. Thats actually why it was so popular. It took british roadster and made it to acctually work!

Briliant car, amd i really not surprised to see it near top.

Could this also be seen as cheap to service vs expensive to service?

could the Crapolla be at the top because if you knew little enough about cars to buy one unless it actually stopped you might not know something had gone wrong with it ? I mean how many grannies know their indicators stopped working or that the electric windows packed up ?

Conversely the type of nerdy petrol head who spent close to 100k for an RS6 is the type to bring it back every time they hear a thump from it suspension as it crosses a man hole.

Lastly - people on a motoring forum shouldn't give a sh1te about this - its how they drive when they are going that matters - MX5 would still be near the top though.

7 - Nissan Almera - A dull package, but that’s no reason to dismiss the Almera which is practical and perfect for the smaller family who need a big boot and utter reliability.

I can vouch for that :)

The boot isn't that big though ;)

Japs for your reliability, German for your build quality(minus the reliability bit).

Well i kniw germans get alot of worshiping, but after owning a few i cant call them any speciall...

    Owned:
    Mk2 golf
    Calibra redtop
    Clk200

Cant say they were alot of trouble, but cant say they were any better then ather cars.

And i am not surprised to see merc so low, they went balls from 1998. All ths new fancy electronic is not helping to the situation.
