Drug Driving Ad

Before i start i want to just say that i do not condone the taking of any intoxicating substances before operating a car/bike etc

But this ad ticks me off as it could be so much more. It's problem is that it has obviously been made by people who have little or no knowledge of drug culture.
Yes the horrible situation they present where the guy and his mates crash into the female pedestrian can happen if you take drugs and drive. But the attempt at a realistic portrayal falls far short.
Why is the drug dealer (could be his friend as he is in the car when it crashes) who gives him the pill presented to us a manic loon? "Take it take it go on take it" in an intimidating tone with a crazy facial expression thrown in for good measure. You see drugs are bad mmmkay. Only evil twisted people get involved in such lark. I have never come across a dealer/friend who handed out pills as if he was passing on some sort of torch of evil.
Why couldnt they have made the advert more realistic. Bunch of mates having a laugh in the club. All are being passed pills by their dealer/friend. Good times ensue. They leave the club a merry bunch and then get into the main character's car. Maybe a shot of them talking complete drivel about nothing at all as the car hurtles along. Then the impact.
That would shock me more than the scene as presented. And i am no stranger to drugs.
It may also have been nice if the collision could have been more realistic ie the woman hits her head on the windscreen. Did she stick her head out as the car approached? If she had stepped in front of the car it would have been her legs/torso that would have caused the damage to the car.

All in all a fail in my eyes

The woman was picking up the big steaming heap of dog shít that Lassie just sprayed on the footpath so yes, her head was at the correct angle to hit the windscreen.

Congratulations! You have successfully missed the entire point of the ad.

And the TAC have produced some amazing campaigns throughout the years. They are actually doing amazing work, which is one of the reasons so many countries are using their ads in their own national campaigns.
