Token present for wedding you can't go to

    I've been invited to a wedding, but I can't go to it as I'll be in a different continent on the day in question.

    Its for a good friend though, so even though I'll turn the invitation down, I want to get them some sort of present, but without going over the top either.

    So anybody any ideas as to what would be good or normal in this situation?

    personally if its a good friend I would give the same present regardless of me being able to go or not.

    But thats just me you will probably get 20 different opinions here

    Yeah I'd agree. A wedding present shouldn't cost an arm and a leg anyway - imo should only ever be a token.
    It's hard to know with wedding presents. If you know something specific they'd be into you could get something personalised. If they like going away, maybe a voucher towards a few nights in a hotel or something. A lot of posters will say that's a waste of time cos they'd end up with a lot of crap, but you know your friend.
    If you don't get something that's personal, you end up with the typical wedding prezzies like candles, frames, glasses, waterford crystal etc which they'd prob receive tons of.
    So long story short, my advice would be to get something specific and personal to them or give them cash or a voucher!
