Paintdoctor will no doubt comment on this. Unless its a dodgy old car, you should get a bodyshop to do it. In fact, buying all the stuff you would need will possibly cost you as much as getting a professional

if new i use 500 grit sponge pad and then prime then sand again then colour and laquer if needed. i wouldnt use aersols as it is hard to get a good finish and make sure to add palsticiser to paint when spraying bumbers or it will have hairline cracks in it when it flexes

Have a look at the tutorial in my sig for some pointers. Is the bumper new, or old? Is it primed?

Its actually the body of a kart. I came to this forum for the experts! Would like to get a good finish but I dont think I could justify the cost of going to a shop to get it done.

Best thing you can do so, is get it as smooth as possible by sanding, use filler if necessary, buy an aersol called Plastifix and put on 5/6 light coats of that letting each one dry for 30 minutes. Sand that smooth with a sanding block, soapy water, and some 800 wet & dry paper, dry everything thoroughly and you're ready for paint.

What colour do you want it to be?

Good ventilation (presume you have a shed and you're not out in the back garden :)) good mask, clean work area and somewhere to place the part while spraying. Prep as per paintdoctor
