Run a marathon in 2 hours plus the minutes of your age
Wouldn't say many on here have done this ;)

A tough challenge. Martin Francis I think was bang on at 2:50 in DCM 10 which was a pretty terrific time.

I was thinking for a moment that it would become easier with age, but it probably doesn't. What would be the best age to aim for this target? I reckon mid to late 30's would be the most achievable. If you get it before that then it wasn't really much of a target anyway and if you get it much after that then your probably getting into the range of age group world best times.

Easiest to achieve at age 38 according to age grading so yeah, mid to late 30's. I have a few years to go for it....interesting target though

Great target. I think it should have a name. I think I can do it. I will report back later in the year. I was less than 5% over this target within the past year (and I am nowhere near world-class, believe me).

And slightly off-topic, although I had never heard of this one before (which I think should be achievable up to around 60 years of age or even a bit after that), I also like the idea of "running your age" in a ten miler. Now that would be very tough. I believe that Jim McNamara did it a few years ago. I know one man who did it or got very close in Ballycotton a few years back.

Off topic again, a 4 minute mile plus your age in seconds. I would consider that if/when I break a 5 minute mile

    F. O'Leary of St. Finbarrs AC did it as an M60 in 1994 and again as an M65 in 1999

David Carrie did this last year in the DCM. I'd say he'll still be at it when he's 80!!

I put the numbers into the WMA age-grading calculator and that's what it came back with, from age 20 to 50. According to them, it's easiest at age 38.
    Age|marathon 2 hrs + age score
    20|90.36
    21|88.99
    22|88.01
    23|87.35
    24|86.75
    25|86.15
    26|85.56
    27|84.98
    28|84.40
    29|83.84
    30|83.28
    31|82.73
    32|82.18
    33|81.64
    34|81.11
    35|80.59
    36|80.51
    37|79.88
    38|79.78
    39|79.84
    40|80.00
    41|80.16
    42|80.33
    43|80.51
    44|80.70
    45|80.90
    46|81.11
    47|81.32
    48|81.55
    49|81.78
    50|82.04
