I know the scrappage scheme was extended to this year but does anyone know when its expected to end?
Will it still be available next year?

I have an old '99 banger that's on its last legs but I was going to hold out until next year. That said, I'm worried the scrappage scheme won't be there.

Do people think is there a chance of it being extended?

Incredibly hard to tell. They won't announce it until very close to the date.

Your salesperson will use this as a scare tactic to get you to sign asap, but honestly no one knows whether it'll be extended or not.

Hopefully they do because I don't think I'll be able to rustle the cash together by July. Is there a chance prices will drop anyway once the scrappage scheme is over?

Generally, any grants drive prices up and savings are sometimes negated e.g. the inulstaion grants at the minute pushing prices up.

I wouldn't expect prices to drop after the scrappage scheme to be honest.

Certainly the scrappage scheme hasn't pushed prices up.

    Officially it's ending in June.

Ireland is the only country still bailing out the car trade, so I cannot see it going beyond that, especially as sales are well up on last year.
