    Most consultants would agree the new consultant contract was a waste of time - essentially it was about control and management being able to threaten any consultant who advocated for patient safety without the HSE sayso.

    We now have at least 20 different pay scales for consultants many of which have no bearing to work done .
    A consultant on B contract starts at 156k to 176k for 37 basic hours while someone on a category I gets 176k for 33 hours.

    If the st vin cents plan goes ahead , I would expect that consultants on B contracts elsewhere to ignore the terms of the contract and essentially go back to cat ii status, this is a very large can of worms.:)

    Agreed. This is why when you hear anyone advocating patient safety these days its the INO.

    Indeed. Worm city. It seems the DOH/HSE are attempting to destroy the health service as completely as possible!
