Engagement Jitters!!!

I've a question for everyone here.

I'm with my OH 8 years. We live together. Due to recent unemployment,I've been feeling pretty awful about myself. I'm having serious problems with anxiety, and it's crept into every aspect of my life. I am seeing somebody for this.

My OH proposed last week, which is something I've wanted for so long now. But I'm so nervous now!!! We haven't told anybody yet, but are planning to this week. It just seems like this big, scary, grown-up thing and it scares the crap out of me!!!It's like I've been thinking about it and planning it for so long in my head, now that it's suddenly reality, it's terrifying!

Is this just normal jitters?? I am very anxious about the unemployment, and have been for some time now. My OH means the world to me, and I love him very, very much. But wow....the future seems like a big, scarey place right now, and I kind of feel like I want to go back into my comfortable world of being able to dream about the future with him, rather than actually having to deal with it!

    Oh yes - VERY normal!!

When I got engaged, I was in total shock for a week, even though I knew it was the right thing to do and it was something that we'd talked about for ages beforehand. It was the weirdest feeling ever!

Then, as I didn't immediately get a ring, it kind of went out of my mind, until I got it, then I went into a spin again!

You do get used to it though. Congratualations and ENJOY your engagement! :D

Oh my gosh, thanks so much. That's exactly how it feels. We didn't have a ring straight away, so it nearly felt like it didn't happen. Now we have one, and it's scaring me again! I can feel little giggles of happiness bubbling up between the terror now and again though, which is probably a good sign.I know I'm totally overwhelmed with worry about being unemployed too, which is taking away from it a bit too.

Why are you nervous? What's to be nervous about? All that changes is that you become husband and wife ... your relationship will still be the same, presumably.

    Normal jitters.

You just need a bit of time to get used to the idea of things changing, with you getting a husband soon... :D

    Congratulations! :)
