    Hi,

I'd like to have the ability to make and receive 01 area landline calls from my Vodafone Android Phone. I know it is easy to forward incoming VOIP calls to my mobile but the part I'm most interested in is the ability to make an outbound call from my mobile phone and have the call presented to to recipient with the 01 XXX XXXX landline number as the caller ID.

Can this be done with one of the Soft VOIP clients available on the Android market and if so which one would you recommend? Will Goldfish, Blueface etc all work with a soft VOIP client the way I want?

    Regards,

    Ben

There must be an app that will do this. Search your app centre for this.

Thanks Mr Grumpy, I'd never have thought of that

BTW, how did you select your username? Was there a suggestion box where you work by any chance?

    Ben

PS The Soft VoIP clients I referred to ARE the application in the Android Market (your "app centre") which should enable me to do this. My question was seeking knowledge here in the VoIP forum about how to get the Soft VoIP apps to do what I want it to do with them.

The apps just provide the link between you and your SIP account. The caller id settings relate to the SIP account itself, not really to the app or device you're using to access it.

If you're using Blueface, for example, you can set your PSTN caller ID via the toolbox. Then it's simply a matter of setting up an app, Sipdroid/Fring/etc, to your VSP as normal.

Top stuff Paul, that's the sort of answer I was looking for and as a four year Boards veteran expecting. Much appreciated.

Try Linphone. Using it with my freespeech account. Both incoming and outgoing working fine.
