Using someone elses credit card terminal?

Is it possible to use another companies merchant card terminal to process debit and credit card payments without my customer potentially claiming fraud or other such problems?

If I state this and make them sign something mentioning that it "xxxx" will appear on their credit card statement would I be covered?

Would hate to lose money and also cause any distress for the company offering their facility.

Also the company is 100% reputable and I cannot get a visa terminal for forseeable future.

I'm no expert but I'd imagine it would cause a headache for them. Maybe there are money laundering issues around this... but if nothing else, revenue is going to want to know why are they accepting payments that aren't making it onto their declared income.

Many Merchant agreement preclude such arrangements, so the 3rd party would be in breach of this.

It's messy, Chance of a clawback could hit the terminal owner, I wouldn't let you near it, maybe I would but I wouldn't be giving you a cent for 9mts and i'd be charging you a lofty premium.
You can get a portable terminal for about 50 a month. It migt be worth investing in for the company or just get an ordinary fixed terminal.

I'd say webpayments.ie would be able to give you a fairly comprehensive answer.
