    Hi All,

I have never posted to boards before but I am hoping to get some advice from people in the same position as me and those who have gone before me.

I am currently studying with ACA. I am studying the exams in the modular system and have financial reporting and sfma to sit this june. Basically I am feeling disillusioned about the whole route I am going down, I dont feel like am progressing at work and am finding the exams very difficult.

I went to a career advisor who suggested that I possibly wasn't suited to the ACA exams and suggest I leave my job during the summer after my CAP2's and change to CIMA exams and go into industry (as there is more jobs and less hassle?!) Is this is a crazy thing to do considering I have come this far with the ACA exams? I tried contacting CIMA to see how many exemptions I would have from going this route but they haven't updated their system to the new exams ie. CAP1 and CAP 2's. So I am wondering has anyone done this before or was it bad advice?! :(

I hope that I dont come across to whiny in this post-I am grateful I have a job! I just dont know what to do!

    Thanks

If you managed to get through CAP 1 exams and part of CAP 2 exams as well. your doing well. They are not easy exams....

I see nothing wrong with the Career advisor's suggestion given what OP said. Although, MY general advice in these circumstances is not to change professional bodies when you've gone so far.

However, would you care to expand on the above comment, as it suggests you are disparaging towards the CIMA qualification. Maybe I picked you up wrong, because in industry you'll not find a more respected qualification.
