Lag switches

hey guys

Is it just me or I have the feeling there are more and more people using lag switches lately?

Its hard to know when they are and when they arent tho but is just too much of a coincidence I believe.

For example, I played several SD games yesterday. Up to this point the game would be running smoothly, so here I am, on clutch situation, with a bit of luck I manage to even things up, so is a 1v1 now, I see your man, I know he hasnt seen me yet as his back is facing me, and just as I start shooting, then the game becomes all laggy, the guy dissapears and next thing you know, I am dead and dont even know how it happens.

Maybe its just some network issues on XBL but is very annoying...

This has happened several times this week, didnt seem to happen before. I have been playing xbox lately as PS3 is almost unplayable but now it doesnt really matter anymore...

Anyone having similar problems?

I've often played games were I was host and say halfway through everyone would look like there running on the spot and I can just kill them.
Other times at the start of a match i'd be the only one in the game while everyone else was still connecting so I could go to the enemy spawn and kill them straight away.

It happened when the weather was really bad with the wind and rain. Not suprised if people did use them.

I think 99% of the time that happens when some one dashboards in a game or if there's a crappy connection to the host.Although,saying that,I used to think that the whole lag switch thing didn't happen at all ,until I was in a game with this asshole that was using one and every time he was about to use it he mentioned it.Sure enough,every time he did say it there was unbelievable lag almost instantly.Same guy swore he had auto aim and some god mode mod.Not overly sure if he had but by the time the game was over he was 72-0 so there was definately something going on.But saying that,since I started playing Black Ops,that was the only time I ever came across some one I was sure was cheating,except for all the times I got killed and rage complained the children that murdered me with their better skills.

Is auto aim actually possible in black ops??

I was playing a game the other day and one guy was either unbelievably good, or using some sort of cheat.

The killcams of this guy were like watching the Veteran Bots in combat training. i.e. the second they become aware of your presence they insta aim to you and bang, you're dead.
I know people can have very high sensitivity and move very quickly, but I really doubt anyone has reflexes that good.

I thought the aimbots couldnt work in blops, but must say, starting to think there's more and more cheating going on.

Also, another thing I've been noticing the last week or so is that some people seemingly have no recoil. I guess it could be because they are just unbelievable at controlling it, but its a bit nuts.
Killcam showing a guy aiming at you and shooting non stop (no bursts) and not losing the aim in any way to recoil. Baffles me to be honest.... would make a lot of sense if it was cheaters. <- i.e. make me feel better about losing more often of late

I think is called aimbots. I agree too, sometimes while I ame espectating (I only play sd so its quite easy to spot them) you can tell something is just not right.

The thing is that making your own lag switch is sooooo easy everyone seems to have one...

Ya... I guess it's harder to tell if someone is using a lag switch..... well... cause the game can be so laggy anyway.
But when you see a killcam of a guy insta aiming on you and no recoil it's a bit disheartening.

It could all be just lag but is just too much of a coincidence that it only happened when that particular guy or his clan mate were about to get killed...

Pretty certain that these are becoming far more prevalent on the xbox. Seamas, Ross and myself all noticed this one player was a lot tougher to shoot & kill than the other enemies in tdm on Villa once.

He tried destroying my jammer and I shot him into last stand, where the game froze twice in quick succession and he managed to destroy my jammer and shoot at me before I killed him. I think the last stand stopped him moving out of the way of my bullets in time. He still was a rubbish player and probably died twice as much as he got kills. I reported him afterwards because of the convenient lag he experienced.

Would dedicated servers negate the lag switchers?

and yet some geniuses try to argue that being the host does not give you an advantage.

I recently watched a vid with some commentator. He explained just how much of an advantage he has when he gets to host.

I will agrue that in black-ops if your are host it isnt an advantage if you have a good connection. However if your connection isnt great and you are host then yes you do have an advantage.

I host alot of games and do ok , but i do better if someone else that has a good connection is hosting.

I can safely say everyone does 10x better when I'm hosting. Fact.

When I get to host (which granted isn't alot) I notice the difference straight away. Last night on I was hosting on "berlin wall". It's like people drop instantly :eek:

You really notice it if you are strafing from left to right too in a gun fight. They're just not shooting anywhere near you.

on the rare occasion i have 4 bars, i can find it laggy and worse then 3 bars,

i often see ppl with 1 an 2 bars, and they are top of leaderboard

personally I wouldn't believe the bar thing at all in black ops. You see lads on a 4bar teleporting around the place.

true , i aint a great player or a bad player lol, but 1 game i can get 20 kills no killstreaks, but next game i can bearly get 10. so annoying very lagy an 2nd chance id also popular atm

Re: hosting. I actually got to host a pub game, albeit for 2 minutes and for me, well it ran very smoothly. Not denying people are having problems while hosting. Just my experience anyway.

Ade - When I'm host I find I run it very well, but what's the point me running very well when 5 of the 6 team members are unplayable, what's the point when as much as I'd like to think I can can, I can't carry a full team like you and a few others can.

I don't give a shít about stats, so if it means the team winning, I'll gladly black out (ie Mw2 days " who's host? oh lee, fúck. No bother lads I'm leaving anways") :pac:

Unfortunatly not everyone in the cod community is like that. Someone posted on here yesterday that he won't play the game unless he knows theres certain players are online because obviously it will affect his stats

Imagine been so obsessed with stats that you won't play a video game unless you know strong players are online. This is another reason the w/l is broken and doesn't show if you're any good........you could be a terrible player that plays with 5 absolute beasts every night and win every game.

I'm with the mod on this one. I don't prestige and still do contracts (d'easy ones) and keep a track of challenges. I'm happy when my kdr goes up and sad when it goes down. Don't really play objective games tho. KDR plummeted trying to get marathon pro and capping flags on CTF.
