Leaders Debate on RTE

A Leaders Debate will be broadcast on RTE, a 3 party leaders debate (Enda Kenny, Eamon Gilmore, Micheal Martin) and a 5 party leaders debate (same plus Gerry Adams, John Gormley).

The above is my understanding of the latest position, from what I've heard on RTE, I'm open to correction.

Anyone got suggestion on how it could be run, e.g. questions submitted by the public; audience participation; town-hall meeting.

Anyone got suggestions of who should host the debate. I hope it's not Miriam O'Callaghan again.

I hope its not Miriam O Callaghan either, I would like to see Pat Kenny doing it he's by far the best of the lot.

Definitely not Miriam O'Callaghan, I watched Prime Time last week, I think Lenihan, Burton and Varadkar were on, and it descended into a shouting match, she had no control at all.

    Sean O'Rourke.

Listening to him on the One O'Clock news on RTE Radio 1 or watching him on The Week in Politics on RTE 1 he has all the qualities. Firm, unpartisan, disciplined, well informed of the issues, takes little crap and is willing to pull people up when they waffle. Importantly he is well respected by all politicians as well.

The programme would be about the leaders and not just about him. For this last reason I don't want Pat Kenny. O'Callaghan is an OK presenter but a terrible interviewer, tends to lose control over the proceedings too often.

Bowman or Richard Crowley would be a good alternative.

Yeah, Sean O'Rourke would be another good choice.

Pat Kenny, although he's answer all the questions himself.
