Panel beater / crash repair in Ballymount.

I was involved in a small accident last week, that ended up with my rear bumper being ripped off and some damage to my rear door and 1/4 panel. The fault was the other drivers, however I am looking to keep their cost to a minimum as the quote from the Toyota garage was more than the car is worth.

I have been looking around the Ballymount / Walkinstown area for a crash repair/panel beater guy, and have got a number of quotes ranging from €800 - €1200.

As I was heading home, I noticed one last place, on the Greenhills road beside the large blue City Auto Components (in the Mulcahy Keane Estate) HERE!.

I decided to stop in and get a quote, I was quoted €300 for full repair incl. any spraying that was needed.

What I am asking is, does anyone have any experience with this place? The guy (George) gave me his card and the card is titled "GVD Autos". He seemed very genuine, however I have fallen foul to this before! Is he too cheap to be true? Any input is appreciated.

Dennings are very good and near enough to you.

The damage is more than the car is worth?

Why don't you take what the car is worth off him and buy another?

My car was rear ended in October. The rear bumper was bent out of place and the boot had been pushed in on the left, so the boot door was protruding and was difficult to open/close. The was also a crack to the rear left, which had previously been repaired, but burst open. The insurance company wrote the car off, I got a replacement and gave the damaged car to my brother, along with a facelift bumper I had purchased the day before the accident.

The cheapest wuote I had gotten to repair the damage to the rear was €1000. By chance, we were put in touch with George and he offered to have a look at the car the next day. He called out and took a look with his colleague. I showed him the crack on the side and I also asked him to price fitting the facelift bumper. Keep in mind that the cheapest quote was only to fix and paint the rear bumper. George quoted €350 for the whole lot!! I nearly choked and had to check twice. My brother agreed and the work was started a few days later. He also polished the headlights (fto lights suffer from peeling lacquer after a few years) to a crystal finish for an extra €20. Total cost was €370 and was well worth it. The paint job was not a 100% match, but Silver A34 paint is near impossible to match and it's not easy to notice. I give these guys a big thumbs up and I will be getting my fto fully resprayed soon at a cost of only €750. I am getting the full job, so there will be no worry of mis-matching. I know places that would charge that just for the bumper to be sprayed.

    Glad to hear it.

But 750 sounds like very small money indeed for a full respray. Is it a Tonka ? ;)

I got my full respray a few weeks ago at GVD and had loads of other things done, including dent removal and under sealing and wheel refurb. It took longer than specified, but the end result was pretty good. It cost me circa €1600 and I got a tonne of stuff done with them. They have prices listed at www.gvdautos.com and that's a first i have seen from a garage. Was my recommendation though ;)

(I dont recommend dennings.... they cant put a bumper onto the front of a honda properly !) (yes it went back a total of 3 times ! )

and i suppose thats your car they have on the site ?

are you in partnership with it in some way ?

Hi. I crashed my car last Thursday and damaged my front bumper and grill (04 Avensis). I initially went to Crofton Motors on the sundrive road for a quote. I was shocked to say the least when I was quoted by the manager Ciaran over €1000 for a new bumper and grill to be sprayed and then fitted (over 400 for the parts and 600 to spray and fit). He said I might be best off to try find a second hand one from a breakers yard and if I couldnt get the same colour he'd spray and fit it for €600, or if i got the same colour hed fit for €200. Anyway , I had no joy at a breakers yard so did a bit more googling and found this thread...based on goz83 recomendation I checked out GVD autos in Walkinstown. I gave George a ring and he said a new bumper and grill would cost me approcimately €240 in total and hed spray and fit them for €200...so all in €440...about €600 less than Crofton Motors!! called into him the next morning and he walked me into City Auto Components next door where i ordered and paid for the new bumper and grill...came to €214 so even less than initially quoted. Anyway the next evening I called back to collect my car...he did a fantastic job..the colour was 100% and he also said he had to do a bit of welding as the head lamps had been knocked out of place in the bump and also the whole bonnet had been knocked out of place so that had to be pushed back into position. Not only that but he also fixed the water spray on my front wipers which had stopped working a few months back and also believe it or not also washed my car!!! he wanted no more than the initial €200 agreed for all this. Anyway just thought id share my experience and spread the recomendation as I feel they deserve it. If anyone wants before/after pics feel free to ask.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Was doing some ranking searches on google and this thread popped up. So, I thought i would answer the question. No, i'm not in partnership with gvd, but i have used the garage a number of times for my own cars and recommended them a bunch of times. I built their website in exchange for some of the extra work they did on my car and that's as far as my connection is with them.

My car is actually currently in with them after being written off a few months ago. The whole rear end was totalled, bending a chassis leg. A donor car was needed to cut out bad metal and the car is now repaired structurally, but still needs plenty of cosmetic work. The price is unbeatable for the work done. I need it signed off by an engineer, but I cant wait for my pride and joy to be finished.

Glad to clear that up :) sorry about delay.
