studying for a degree in business with 59% average i want to either go into trading/investment banking or accountancy preferably big 4.

Would the professional diploma in stockbroking or the qfa diploma provided by the institute of bankers be of any use to me in getting into these industries ?

In a big 4 company or investment banks eg goldman sachs would it be looked very favourably upon to have these qualifications.

Is there any other qualifications which i could complete instead of these that would look better on my cv?
any advice for someone starting out in these careers
    Any advice?

Firstly, there's a huge difference between accountancy & Investment Banking. It is relatively easy to get into one of the big 4 accounancy firms with an honours business degree from UCD, Trinity, DCU or DIT. It is a total different ball game getting into an Inv Bank particularly GS where a 1st & other outstanding achievements are required to get an interview at Grad Level.
With all due respect to people who did the courses u mentioned, they r 2nd rate and aren't respected by top people, particularly traders. If u mean business, u should consider the MSc in Inv & Treas in DCU or the MSc in Quant Fin in Smurfit and then maybe the CFA.
In the medium term, getting into & succeeding is very much down to how much u want to & what type of personality u have.
