    i know this could be in the wrongs place. but if your a garad in ireland can you become a cop in new york. i'm not a garda.

    also can you become one in new york ir are you allowed too join the force over there

    No and no unfortunately. You'd have to go through the whole process from scratch AND be in possession of a valid visa. You'd be treated no different than anyone else from Ireland wishing to join.

    You must be a US citizen to join any police force over there...not a law but from my fairly comprehensive research it seems every department requires it. Rightly so, if I might add, we should ask the same here (iirc you only have to be a resident EU citizen at present?).

    in nearly all US forces one must be a citizen with the exception of illinois (one must only possess permanent residence for the chicago police) and california (one must possess permanent residence and be on verge of citizenship).

    in ireland anybody can join there is no requirement for EU citizenship as far as i know but you must be an unrestricted full time worker (stamp 4 immigration).
