hair in your food

I will always insist on the food being taken back if there is a hair in it. I am going to be paying good money and the last thing I want to see is someones hair, turns my stomach it does. It's just complete carelessness imo and shows a complete lack of class towards the diner.

What do you do if you find a hair in your food? 43 votes

It depends on how short and curly it is...the shorter and curlier...the more likely it is to be a pubic hair...unless people have nice long straight hair...k, let's not get into that.

    taken back?

I'd refuse to pay and leave. Imagine what might be in your food that you didn't see.

well of course you should send it back but I hardly think it is a personal insult to the diner. Do you know how many hairs you lose in a day? And of course, chefs make a huge effort to avoid it happening: hats, hair scarves etc but sometimes **** happens. No one expects you to eat the food, and it is embarassing for the kitchen, and unfortunate but it is not a sign of a lack of respect.

I put it to the side and use it to floss afterwards.

Losing my sight would probably be worse but it's a nuisance none the less.

Surely with good hygiene and a cap even a piece of hair may drop in without one knowing. I'd address the issue to the waiter and wait to see the response and depending on their reaction, I'd know whether to leave or brush it off as an honest mistake.

its never happened to me in a resturaunt but id probably send it back, its happened at home with my balding mother, and i just picked it out it and slagged my ma

Pick it out and continue eating. I'd rather it didn't happen but may all your troubles be little ones, as they say.

People who make a huge fuss about it are often those who have, over time, fostered the tendency to take massive umbrage to anything that could be considered remotely offensive. It's a trait that's actively developed over one's life, often acquired from a neurotic parent, and it's one of the worst I can think of.

Yeah...if it's a pube you save it in your box of collected pubes and show everyone how many times you've scored...

Finding a hair in your food is one of the most distressing things ever. It's so rank. And worse when it's already in your mouth and you've to pull it out.. uuugh:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,573 ✭✭✭pragmatic1

Meh. Depends how hungry I am.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

hungry enough to eat a whole head of hair?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,084 ✭✭✭dubtom

I once visited someone who insisted I join them for dinner,a fry up with chips. There was more long black hairs on the plate than chips, still turns my stomach thinking of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭bluto63

Maybe I'm just dirty, but I don't see the big deal? Just pick it out and continue eating. It's only a hair ffs, it's not like the shat on the plate.
