    Hi
I have hotpoint washing machine that will not empty water when the wash is finished.
I cleaned out the filter which was full of crap but it still doesn't empty the water.
Any ideas before I have to get someone to look at it?

if there was loads of stuff in the filter, id say something got through and is wedged in the pump.

Usually you'd hear the pump running when it empties out the water. See if you can hear it. If not, like G.MAN says there could be something stuck in it, or it may be done for

I'm not sure about the pump. After I took off the back panel I took off a black hose (looks like an accordion kinda thing) with jubilee clips.
In the top of the hose was a little plastic cup thing where all the stuff was caught.
I emptied it and ran it under the tap and water freely flowed from top to bottom, so there was nothin else stuck in it.
There is no lights flashing only the door locked light stays on
    It's an old machine, edition 800 WM51.

    Thanks for replies

They use Ascol pumps, take it out and check for anything around the impellor but my guess is you'll need to change it.

Usually there's a panel on the front near bottom that opens and has a screwable thingy you can unscrew and take the accumulated fluff etc out, and put back again, maybe there's one on yours. If it is full of fluff etc it will prevent water emptying .
