I'm going skiing in Italy in two weeks as part of a transition year trip.

I'm not 100% sure what gear I need to get (I know Ski Jacket/Ski Socks) but what else do I require?

I'm looking for as cheap as possible - is TK Maxx the way to go? or can you pick the stuff up in dunnes.

    cheers,

    Kevin.

if there is one thing you do buy, it is proper ski socks!! get them in millets or any outdoor adventure store in dublin. You'll be thankful you have a decent pair when your in the snow all day, trust me!!

I work for a ski company and can by the socks as cheap in tX Mxx as I can direct from the factory!

TX Maxx is great, Football socks will do for ski socks if you want to save a few quid but the list below is the minimum

    Good Base Layer (AVOID COTTON)

A shell jacket with min 10,000 mm Waterproofing, works in all conditions and you can layer up for insulation. see below.

A fleece or sleeveless body warmer

Good Ski Pants same water proofing as above!!

Good Gloves they have some Mammut ones in TK Makk

    Helmet or Warm Beanie!

Sun Glasses especially with the way things are in the alps right now it is hot hot hot spring skiing conditions right now!

Also if you are anywhere near Kildare outlet village the Nike shop and North Face have some great stuff!

Nike 6.0 or ACG gear is great.

Thanks for the above replies, much appreciated :)

went to the Kildare outlet, and ended up in the tog 21 shop - had a look in the north face and while their stuff was nice looking and good quality it was a little expensive to justify for first trip

got everything as mentioned, at a very reasonable price (fingers crossed tog 21 are a good brand) haha, cheeers
