I have been taking part in the CCAR Series and on saturday I decided to bring my Go Pro HD camera along to record the race. It was the first time I tried filming this type of event from a Chest mounted camera. Due to the long nature of the race I tried to speed some sections up to cut down on the video size but still give an idea of all thats involved. (Except the Kayak - I will get that footage next time)

When editing the footage I have speeded the run sections up too much. It is hard to watch in places but it was a learning experiance and I will have another go at editing this again soon.

The Race Report and footage can be found on the blog linked below.

Nothing scary about them. The Causeway Coast Adventure Race Series has a real mix of abilities from the really fast to total newbies. Thats what is so good about these events. No one is out of place and the craic is mighty not knowing what is round the corner. The organisers even map the courses with cut off points and bonus loops so if you dont feel like it on the day you can cut it short. A great way to get into the sport and try it out.

Next One is at Castleward on the 5th March Details here

I am really looking forward to another one.

Fi H can't belive you classed them as scary, they're just about as far away from scary as you can get. Here's another race report from the Bikedock teams, 3 all female teams who took part in the Derry event.

BTW the TEAR event is a great race and they have a new website.

I think this is what happens when you watch too many primal quest utube videos and then listen to enduro talking about multisport races not being proper adventure races :D

Well that's true, but the proper races aren't harder to do. In fact, because they're more enjoyable they are, IMHO, much easier to do. The team aspect makes them much more entertaining and fun, as does the fact that they're not just slogs, but usually involve a bit of thinking too. So, as I say to anyone who has any interest in them, just go ahead and give them a go.
