    Hi All,

question regarding importing vehicle from UK etc as a commercial and paying 13.5% VRT.

If subsequently you are unable to tax as a commercial (Thanks JG) and have to re-register as a Private car, do you then have to pay the VRT ammount that would have been payable at time of importation, or would it be based on the OMSP of the vehicle Now, ie a sliding scale?

Thinking of those who imported 3Litre Jeeps etc.
    Is it an 'Ouch' moment?

Surely, its a vehicle is legitimately on an Irlsh plate, there can be no circumstance where you would have to pay more vrt. I think the tax is a seperate issue tbh.

I agree. The suitabilty of the vehicle for registration purposes is seperate to it's subsequent use.
