NASRPC "Women on Target" in 2011

Last year NASRPC held its first "Women on Target" Clinic to great success. This year we plan to grow on that.

This is programme, designed around the NRA "First Steps" course, to specifically introduce women to the sport of target shooting.

We all recognise that there are not many women involved in our sports and with women forming half the population we want to do what we can to introduce them to it and facilitate their taking part. To this end the course is for women only and is run in a half day format.

NASRPC recently held its first, of what it hopes is many, "Women on Target" clinics in 2011
@ Hilltop Shooting Club in Co. Wicklow on January 29th.

On this occasion we held two courses, introducing women to both
Rifle shooting, through Rimfire Benchrest Rifle and
Pistol Shooting, through Rimfire Benchrest Pistol.

Each course was limited to a dozen or so participants and many NRA Instructors from many clubs attended in order to provide the one-one-one instruction that makes these courses such a success.

Even though it was quite a cold day for the range, all of the participants enjoyed the course and many showed some real promise.
Many expressed an interest in trying it out again and potentially looking to compete in the future.

This particular course was very quickly oversubscribed so we will be running another in the near future and will keep you updated and will keep the Women on Target page on the NASRPC website updated with upcoming events.

We would like other clubs, who believe they have the demand for a course, to contact us to let us know, so we can arrange to schedule a course for people in their area.

We would like to thank Pat & Marion Cooke and their staff @ Hilltop for providing the facilities free of charge, Millard Bros for sponsoring the ammunition for the event, the NRA for their support in holding this event, the many NRA Instructors who helped out on the day and of course the attendees for taking part and making the event such a success.

If you have any questions on the "Women on Target" Programme, "NRA First Steps" or indeed would like to register to take part in our future clinics, then please contact womenontarget@nasrpc.ie

The "Women on Target" Clinics have been very successful the last couple of years and are largely demand driven so are scheduled as there is sufficient demand.

To register your interest please send an email to womenontarget@nasrpc.ie and we will let you know when there are further "Women on Target" days either at ranges near you or elsewhere in the country and generally keep you informed of NASRPC events.
