Replacing Oil Boiler and solid fuel range

    Hi,

Looking for some advice on a heating system to replace the heating system for my father. Currently system is a external oil boiler which is about 30 years old and a solid fuel Stanley Super 90 in the kitchen/dining area which has a back boiler. The Stanley is no longer performing as it should and he has been looking to get rid or change for a bit. Also the boiler is on its last legs and had to get parts for. There are 9 radiators on the system (nearly all of them are doubles if i remember correctly).

Now i was suggesting that he replaces the oil boiler because of the fact that at this stage it's efficency must be 50% at most. With the SEI grant i was trying to convince him to get a condensing boiler and upgrade the heating controls to have 3 zones (hot water, bedrooms, living area). However, he kind of now wants rid of the Stanley which would leave a large unoccupied area in the kitchen which he had thought of installing a stove but wants to get away from burning solid fuels as he's getting on in years. If it possible to get a stove style oil burner that would be highly efficient and able to have zone controls like i described. Or what other similar setup can someone suggest?

    Thanks in advance

the only oil stoves are the gravity fed type, generaly only heat hot water. What about an electric fire type stove, looks like solid fuel, and your oil boiler outside
