This board is deader than a dead dodo who became a zombie who reburied herself because she was so lonely...

It's a shame, I'd like to get into an RPG, so I bookmarked this board, but I think this is the first new post I've seen on here in the last year.

    I'd be up for it.

There is a group that (usually) plays around Blanchardstown (generally) on a Sat. we might have an opening for more players.

Usually we play Pathfinder/DnD and will be starting a new campaign shortly, if interested send me a message.

Its really a shame that this place is so quiet. I just got into RPGs over the past few months and just discovered this forum. Surely there are enough Irish players to keep interest in a forum?

I was into RPGs heavily a few years back. Larped alot of WoD before if went offishul.

There was some bizarre policy of rewarding people who brought in new players to the larp with resources, which lead to me being hounded for months to join by other players and me eventually swearing off roleplaying.

I don't think I'd ever return to it though in the way I used to, time is too limited for the amount of effort I had to put in.

I seem to reacall a lot of WoD larping going indie, what with the Cam imloding under its own what-the-f*ckery.

The sheer number of games conventions around Ireland each year would suggest there are plenty of Irish gamers about. To be honest though, play-by-post games are tricky to keep going. I've tried, both here and on other websites. But things always happen to get in the way, someone loses their internet, or forgets to log in for a month, or something.

Pen-and-paper RPGs and larps are certainly going strong.

Sarky, don't you play the odd bit of Cam? I've a vague memory of seeing you at a Cork game with Kris not too long ago :P

More seriously, yeah, there was a lot of what-the-f*ckery in the past. It was mostly gone by the time my generation came along, but the damage to the reputation has stuck around (the American Cam's rep hasn't helped us much either if I'm honest).

*shrug* on the other hand, if you live near one of the places Cam's still running games, you might be surprised. By and large, the players are nice people who aren't out to be assholes.

There's a few big indy Larps around as well, Nick Huggin's Larps are supposed to be fantastic (Jumptech and Midway - http://www.irishgaming.com/forum/index.php), Tony O'Hare is running a Dublin Mage LARP and there's a pile of rubber sword Larpers who can be found in St. Anne's park every so often.

There's also a fair number of Tabletop games running on a Thursday night in 'The Dark Horse Inn' on the Dublin Quays. I reckon the trouble is most gamers just aren't using these boards to organise stuff.

Well, you know how persuasive Kris is. I come back every now and then. Larping isn't really my thing though, so I usually end up drifting off.

True that. It's practically his middle name.
