for the past 8 months or so i have had a back tooth that needs a root canal. i was told it will be a job that has to be done in newry and would be about 500 euro which i havent got at the min. i was also told i could wait till it starts to annoy me and have it removed. at the min its ok and no pain but sometimes i get a small blister ever few weeks. it comes and goes. do you think i should head back to the dentist now to get this removed or leave till it starts annoying me and then get removed or is it too late for the root canal.

I had a tooth which gave trouble for well over a year and while it didn't pain me it was very sensitive. I eventually got a root canal done....I didn't get any infection as I gargled with warm water and salt most days! There was no problem with leaving it that long, well for me, and then getting a root canal. I got it done in the Republic.

This dentist does not do the root canal over one or two visits. They are spread out over maybe 4 or 5 visits with the price still the same so that made it easier to pay the bill of 400 Euro or thereabouts every time I visited. I just gave in 50 Euro or whatever I had, towards the bill. The price is determined by the amount of canals not visits!!!

At the moment I am in pain with another tooth so it is time to go back again. I hope it will just be a filling!!!

    hi cartman51773

I have a problem with a tooth that sounds a bit like yours. i have blisters as we speak but its not just blisters, every few days a spot would apprear on my gum, and it would burst and go away and few days later it would come back again. not painful. anyway went to dentist and its called a sinus tooth infection. the root in the tooth is already dead. so root canal and crown is required. at a cost of €1275

now this tooth must have been dead for at least 7 years, unknow to me.
a butcher did it without telling me he'd killed the nerve and i was young and didnt ask what he was doing. so 7 years i did not have any problems.
no spots no blisters nothing. BUT NOW i have an app to get root canal done on it. in the last 6months 2 infection. no pain as such, but fever, swelling, dizzyness. i was going to go up north to get it done, as its cheaper but
taking into consideration travel expense, time off work, how many visits i'd need, and if something went wrong to. these are the pros and cons i had to weight up.
its my first time getting marjor work done on my teeth so want to get it right.

i've had been on 2 diffrenct antiboitcs twice in 6mnts for this tooth.
just not worth it. not in pain but diffo infection was dragging me down.
energy levels low, headaches, dizzyness, and more.... so my advice do it before it gets worse

I had a root canal done in a single 2 hour visit to a specialist. I thought this was normal proceudre and that it was only follow up work such as a crown that require follow up visits. Naturally I could be wrong...I am no expert.

sounds awful alright. its the price that im worried about. its a back tooth so they have 4 canals as far as im aware. i know it needs to be done but i dont have the 1000 or there abouts to get that done but dont want to have to loose the tooth either. i will have to go back to the dentist for a check up soon. ( have been avoiding him incase he goes on at me for not coming back ) maybe i can go another while before i need the work done.
