    Hi All
Friend of mine is in a serious pickle.
Laptop was recently the recipient of bottle of sticky liquid.
Was dried out for last week but still won't turn on.
Was wondering if there was someone in the Galway City area that would be able to retrieve the data on the HD as all her project/course work is on it and (of course :) ) not backed up.

    Regards

    HB

Should be pretty straight forward. Remove hard drive from laptop, get a hard drive caddy (Something like this), put hard drive in caddy and connect to another PC. It will show up as a normal external hard drive would and you can get the files from it.

Wow, that would be just the job.
Will give PC World and Maplins a buzz and see do they have any

Also note if its an old laptop (Maybe >4/5 years) then it might be an ata connection on the hard drive, all newer hard drives will have a sata connection. Just something to keep in mind when buying a caddy/enclosure.

What type of laptop is it - if it's a SATA hd, I can do it for you if you can't get it done anywhere else today.

Like already said, potentially easy job. Best do it as quick as possible incase it seems more into the drive and damages it.

We can solve this issue for you, but things are hectic this week so would need to be done over-night.

You can PM me the make/model of the laptop as it could be one of any types of drive (we have connections for all)
