The other half and I are off to London in three weeks for a romantic weekend, neither of us have been before so want to get as much sightseeing in as possible (Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street). Can anyone recommend a hotel thats central (or near tube station), not too pricey but a good base for our trip? Thanks in advance, CJ

Just go onto travelodge/Premier Inn websites and they have accom all over London, a nice place to stay is Covent Garden- think travelodge have a hotel there on drury lane, but accom in London is expensive so even the low cost chain on hotels will be expensive.

Thanks we were there for weekend before last, ended up staying in hotel verta in clapham, good bit out of city but 5 star hotel it was gorgeous! Treated like a star for the same price you'd pay in city centre for a dive. Definitely recommend the hotel!
