What's a Mark 2 Escort worth?

I have a 1977 original Irish Mark 2 Escort, it is a 2 door,it has practically no rust, its lowered, its has been arched and has front and rear spoilers fitted, it has nice black original seats the ones with no head rests (I really like that look), and full black interior, thats the good points now the bad points are its only a 1.1 litre does run but hasn't been started in years (mind you only 48k genuine miles on the clock) but to be honest who ever bought it would more than likely change the engine anyway, it has 15 inch mini lite style wheels with brand new low profile tyres, and finally it does needs a full bare metal respray.

So I know rolling shells alone used to command a good price from the rally fraternity, but what about this recession hit economy I don't know if that market is still there.

    So two questions :

To maximise profit would I be better off to get it resprayed or leave it as is?

Can anyone help me out with some sort of valuation?

    Thanks

hard to put a price on cars at the moment ,,and if you can get the right buyer ( if their still around ) you could get any price ..

if you can afford to , id put it in storage and wait for a while and see if this country picks up

post up a pick and some of the ford fans on here might put a figure on it for ya !

Escorts used to be cheaper to import from England to Ireland, but prices are so bad here for all cars that sometimes they are going the other direction across the pond.

So pics will tell a lot about the shells condition and you have none.....

And out of interest, location? :)

I saw a 1.1, MK1,4 door go for 2500 last summer at a show. Nice body on it too good paint job. Though I thought that was cheap for a MK1. Id say any where from 3 to 5k anyay though that small engine may work against you. If it is resprayed though.
