    Hi all
I have an Inspiron 1501 laptop, had a boot up problem so to cut a long story short I restored the factory settings and I still have the boot up problem, any Ideas what to do.

Some times it runs for a min or 2.
Since I posted I noticed that the although the screen wasnt lit up the system was running in the background
when it had run for about half an hour it stated window like it should.
But then after about 15 min it clicked ans went off

Will it boot off a live linux CD?

Maybe the HD is dying. Hence the slow boot. Live CD would elminate that a reason.
