I drive a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI that's due to have its timing belt changed and I'm about to ring around to get a few quotes to get this carried out. What should I expect to pay to get this done?

I have a 02 Octavia TDi and got the belt done last year. I got the whole kit from a fab motor factor here in Cork for €130.00...And a friend fitted it in a few hours for another €150.00.

To be honest,I thought that was good money to buy the kit,and get it fitted.

You can just buy the belt itself, but I always think it's worth the extra money to buy the whole kit,,just in case. Also, take into account if the water pump is due to be done. Because if you don't do it,,and it goes afterwards, you'll end up shelling out a lot more money to have the whole lot stripped off again.

We'd be charging approx €350 for timing belt kit, water pump and fitting....
